After the nationalisation of the coal industry Andrew Freeth drew pictures of miners which were published with short biographical stories in the NCB's monthly Coal magazine between 1947 and 1952. In 2011 Anton Want went into the last remaining commercial deep coal mine in the UK to profile the roles of the workers in Kellingley Colliery with portraits and oral history interviews to reflect their roles in the 21 Century.
A National Coal Mining Museum publication funded by Arts Council England containing colour photographs, dedicated to the workforce of Kellingley Colliery, past, present & future.
