The 1st place rosette was won by Oxo, a retired pit pony. Oxo worked for 11 years at Bestwood and Gedling collieries until he retired after an accident. He became a show pony and went on to win many awards.
The annual Moorgreen Show in Nottingham first started in 1849 and attracted crowds of more than 40,000 at is peak.
