Meet at Museum Reception
Enjoy the shades, sights and sounds of the countryside surrounding the museum in this two hour circular walk, down local roads and country lanes (with some inclines). Uncover the shadows of our mining past in a landscape that has not only been reclaimed by nature, but is seeped in the stories of people who made the history of Caphouse so captivating. From Lady Matilda who ran the mine while her husband hunted and fished, to lovers who took advantage of the mineral railway line to court.
Where from - The walk will start and finish at the Museum.
Route - There are some moderate gradients along the route, but nothing too steep. The paths are clear, but can get muddy in bad weather.
Café - The café will be open and serving hot food at lunchtime
Walking in Safety: Walking in the outdoors will always require a degree of common sense and judgement to ensure it is as safe as possible.
