The National Coal Mining Museum for England launches Mini Miner Mondays sessions to Nurseries, Pre-school and Playgroups.

Following the success of the drop-in Wacky Wednesday sessions for carers and their ‘under 5’ children, the National Coal Mining Museum for England will launch a pre-bookable session, Mini Miner Mondays for those attending pre-school settings  from 20 April – 20 July 2015.

Nursery and play group organisers can bring their pre-schoolers along at 10.15am for an hour of storytelling, rhymes and craft as they explore the Museum’s galleries. The session investigates what a miner does and includes a themed craft activity which the children can take home as a reminder of their visit to the Museum.

The weekly sessions, which will take place on Mondays during term-time, will need to be pre-booked through the Education Bookings Officer. The cost per child is £2, with no charge for adult helpers. The Mini Miners team can work with group sizes between 16 – 24 people including adults.

For child-minders who look after a small number of children – why not join up with other child minders and form a larger group so that your children can enjoy a special treat?

Come rain or shine, the museum has a whole host of activities for the little ones to enjoy after the session. They can explore the nature trail, visit the pit pony stables and discover a whole new world of exciting buildings and interesting objects.  These experiences can provide further stimulation for creative learning activities back in pre-school.
