National Coal Mining Museum for England (NCMME) keeps the stories of coal mining alive by collecting and preserving the industry’s rich heritage, creating memorable and inspiring ways for people of all ages, backgrounds and needs to learn & enjoy all we have to offer.

We are embarking on the next exciting part of our journey to deliver a fresh new vision for our development over the next 10 years. Our Finance colleagues provide a crucial business support service to the whole organisation, and we are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic individual to join the Team.

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with excellent organisational skills and an eye for detail. If you are a numbers person and have experience of computerised accounting systems, then this could be the job for you. The role is varied and is within a team providing excellent business support to the organisation. You will have experience of working in a busy office environment and will have a professional accountancy qualification / be qualified by experience.

About the Role:

You’ll support both the Head of Finance and Performance and the Head of Corporate Governance in delivering efficient, effective business support across the organisation. This varied role includes:

  • Maintaining accurate financial records and reconciliations
  • Assisting with payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and cash management
  • Supporting budget preparation and management reporting
  • Contributing to the preparation of annual accounts and audit processes
  • Promoting strong financial and corporate governance practices
  • Helping develop HR and management resources
  • Coordinating cover and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations
