An NCB plan from Maltby colliery showing the Parkgate seam abandoned workings of nearby Thurcroft Colliery and a copy of the plan on acetate. Collieries would keep copies of plans for adjacent pits to know where other workings were. Both plans were drawn using the NCB grid template onto a paper-covered metal sheet and a sheet of plastic. They are both coded as 43/4889 which relate to Ordnance Survey SK4889 map at a scale of 1:2500.
The plans were hand-drawn in Maltby colliery’s surveyors office and based on Ordnance Survey maps.
