Although Underground Tours will be unavailable during this period, theMuseum Remains Open, and continues to share the important history of coal mining with our visitors. These horse hair clippers were used to cut ponies’ hair. Working underground was dirty work and if ponies had long hair, it would become matted with sweat and coal dust, so they were kept short haired.
