This candle-stick Davy lamp was made by Alfred Ellis of Wakefield. This was a traditional standard Davy lamp with a hasp lock.
In certain pits, Davy lamps continued to be used up to the 1880s but were considered unsafe with increasing ventilation levels and deeper mines.
