Orgreave Podcast

Today (18 June) marks 40 years since the Battle of Orgreave. The events of 18 June 1984 at Orgreave coking plant, Rotherham, saw picketing miners face 6000 police officers in riot gear supported by police dogs and mounted officers. It was one of the pivotal moments of the strike and one of the most violent clashes in British Industrial history.

University of Sheffield  MA Broadcast Journalism students Jack and Q have produced a podcast, see below, which discusses the events of the Battle of Orgreave, 40 years on, with interviews with former miners:

Visit our exhibition, 84/85 – The Longest Year, to discover first-hand experiences of the strike year, along with items commemorating the events at Orgreave 40 years ago.
