A black and white image showing a group of miners stretchering a casualty from the shaft head at Betteshanger Colliery.

Harold White was commissioned by the NCB to photograph coal mines and their mining communities across Great Britain between 1950 and 1960. These images were donated by the late photographer’s daughter. The collection includes images from England, Scotland and Wales as it was thought that such an important collection should remain together.
