Join us for a relaxed outdoor walk – the perfect blend of fresh air, friendly faces, and a little outdoor adventure!
Experience a gentle 45-minute sensory circular walk around the Museum site, designed for groups with additional needs. Explore nature and mining heritage in a relaxed, informal way with hands-on opportunities to discover how coal was formed, how mining has changed the natural world, meet our ponies and listen to our canaries sing.
Optional scenic nature trail walk available for those able to manage some inclines.
Subject to volunteer availability – please get in touch to book. To pre-book please call the Visitor Welcome Desk on 01924 848806.

Here’s what City Limits, Adult Day Service, Wakefield had to say after their recent visit:

“The staff involved did a fantastic job. They aimed the talk at just the right level and showed great sensitivity by understanding exactly when our service users had had enough.

Every staff member we met was lovely, welcoming and made us feel right at home.

The site is beautiful – we all wished we had brought our lunch to enjoy a picnic on site.

Thank you all for a memorable and accommodating morning out.”
