Accessible Overground Tour - National Coal Mining Museum

The Museum is open Wednesday to Sunday 9.45am – 4pm / Free Entry (open as usual during the festive period, including Christmas Eve)

Following further negotiations with UNISON, industrial action, largely affecting our Underground Tours, is confirmed to take place until Wednesday 28 January 2026. Although Underground Tours will be unavailable during this period, the Museum Remains Open, and continues to share the important history of coal mining with our visitors. Meet at Reception

Join our friendly Volunteers on an accessible tour of the Museum.

You will be guided around site on our wheelchair accessible shuttle buggy and learn all about our mining heritage. The tour can be tailored to the interests of you and what you would like to see around site.

Please note that this tour is subject to availability. To find out more and to book, please contact our Visitor Welcome team on 01924 848 806. The buggy can only hold one wheelchair and five seated, one ticket is for up to six people.
