Following further negotiations with UNISON,industrial action, largely affecting our Underground Tours, is confirmed to take place until Sunday 12 October. Although Underground Tours will be unavailable during this period, theMuseum Remains Open, and continues to share the important history of coal mining with our visitors. This leather bound bible was produced by the Oaks Colliery Explosion Subscription Relief Fund Committee who gifted them to the families of those that lost loved ones. The disaster when 359 men and boys lost their lives took place on the 12th December 1866.
