The Atlas Permissible locomotive was an American-built battery-powered locomotive and was used at Glasshoughton Colliery, Yorkshire, from 1949.

In 1947 a flood of American machines entered British collieries as part of the plan by American Secretary of State, George C. Marshall, for post-war rebuilding to help industries rebuilding after the Second World War.
