The Museum is open Wednesday to Sunday, 9.45am-4pm

Following further negotiations with UNISON, industrial action, largely affecting our Underground Tours, is confirmed to take place until Wednesday 8 July 2026. Although Underground Tours will be unavailable during this period, the Museum Remains Open, and continues to share the important history of coal mining with our visitors. Please note: On Saturday 21 March, all entry to the museum is ticketed on this date. Dino Discovery Day entry is £15 per car, which includes access to the Dino Discovery Day activities, live shows, walkabouts and museum grounds. A limited number of tickets will be available on the day, but parking will be very limited. If you’re planning to visit without a ticket, we recommend arriving from 11am onwards.

Wacky Wednesday: Maurice in the Adventure Playground

Maurice is so excited that the Adventure Playground is open again here at the Museum!

He’s spent a lot of time this week playing on the slide and going up and down on the seesaw. The seesaw isn’t the only thing that moves up and down at the Museum though… watch to see what else there is!
