The Coal Community Panel
Miners’ welfares were places of care, connection and creativity. Today, many former coalfield communities still face challenges around health, wellbeing and isolation – making this shared heritage more relevant than ever.
Get involved
The Coal Community Panel is a new group developing and shaping creative activities, inspired by the history of miner’s welfares to support wellbeing in former mining communities in Wakefield and beyond.
Together, we’ll share stories, find new ways to connect people, inspire creativity and support wellbeing in historic welfare buildings and shared community spaces.
By joining you can:
• Share your ideas and help guide the project
• Help choose artists and plan creative activities
• Connect with local history, creativity and wellbeing
• Socialise, share and build new skills
Everyone is welcome – we’d particularly encourage people with lived experience of physical or mental health challenges.
