Why Terriers?
We’re looking forward to celebrating all types of terriers for our Terrier Meet Up! Terriers have long been linked with Britain’s mining communities, as they were useful working dogs in and around the pits. In coal mining towns such as Bedlington in Northumberland, miners kept Bedlington Terriers to help control rats and other vermin that threatened food stores, equipment, and living spaces. Yorkshire Terriers also began as practical little rat-catchers in industrial Yorkshire before becoming the beloved companions we know today.
