Following further negotiations with UNISON,industrial action, largely affecting our Underground Tours, is confirmed to take place until Sunday 12 October. Although Underground Tours will be unavailable during this period, theMuseum Remains Open, and continues to share the important history of coal mining with our visitors. A commemorative disaster serviette for the Wharncliffe Woodmoor Disaster on 6th August 1936. The disaster was the result of a coal dust explosion and claimed the lives of 57 men underground.
Serviettes like this were made and sold to raise funds for the victims’ bereaved families.
