Following further negotiations with UNISON,industrial action, largely affecting our Underground Tours, is confirmed to take place until Wednesday 8 July 2026. Although Underground Tours will be unavailable during this period, theMuseum Remains Open, and continues to share the important history of coal mining with our visitors. Please note: On Saturday 21 March, all entry to the museum is ticketed on this date. Dino Discovery Day entry is £15 per car, which includes access to the Dino Discovery Day activities, live shows, walkabouts and museum grounds. A limited number of tickets will be available on the day, but parking will be very limited. If you’re planning to visit without a ticket, we recommend arriving from 11am onwards.
A framed and glazed etching in black ink by artist and miner Tom McGuiness. It depicts an underground scene with figures dressed in work clothes, helmets and cap lamps closely grouped examining payslips.
