Following further negotiations with UNISON,industrial action, largely affecting our Underground Tours, is confirmed to take place until Sunday 12 October. Although Underground Tours will be unavailable during this period, theMuseum Remains Open, and continues to share the important history of coal mining with our visitors. The Coal Industry Act 1987 changed the National Coal Board into the British Coal Corporation. British Coal existed until the industry was privatised in 1997.
