The Museum is open Wednesday to Sunday, 9.45am-4pm / Free Entry

Following further negotiations with UNISON, industrial action, largely affecting our Underground Tours, is confirmed to take place until Wednesday 8 July 2026. Although Underground Tours will be unavailable during this period, the Museum Remains Open, and continues to share the important history of coal mining with our visitors. Spring is here! Join us in our Pit Wood for our spring scavenger hunts, discover the natural colours of the season.

All ages welcome, especially suited to Under 5s.

Please note: Adults do not need to pre-book their place. The scavenger hunt will take place outside, so please dress for the weather. Please meet at Reception, The Hub.
