Two of our regular visitors, Helen and her son Dominic, recently spoke to our Librarian about their visits to Wacky Wednesday's:
'My 3-year old son and I started attending Wacky Wednesdays at the beginning of September, initially on a temporary basis before I was due to start a new job.
Over the course of those 5 weeks we really grew to love our Wacky Wednesdays, so much so that as the start date for my new job loomed closer I felt genuinely sad that visits to the museum were no longer going to be part of our weekly routine.
After mentioning this to my husband, he suggested asking my new employer if I could alter my working days so that Wednesdays would be one of my days off. So I asked - and they said yes!
So our temporary attendance at Wacky Wednesdays has now become permanent!
We both really enjoy the different themes each week and Dominic loves bringing his crafts home to show Daddy.
We pretty much have a routine in place now......first to the Wacky Wednesday session, then to the Little Diggers play area, outside to press the alarm buttons in one of the outhouses and visit Eric, Ernie & Finn, back inside for lunch in the cafe, then wandering around the museum opening the drawers and talking about the "olden days", before heading home for a nap!
Dominic and I really do love our Wednesdays together! It is also clear to me how much Dominic is learning and benefitting from our visits to the museum - from the varied topics discussed in the Wacky Wednesday sessions; asking me questions about the exhibitions in the museum; or from simply watching Finn get new shoes put on!
Thank you also to the staff and volunteers at the museum - the enthusiasm of the Wacky Wednesday session leaders and the helpfulness of the cafe staff has not gone unnoticed and is very much appreciated.'
