Summer Holidays: Helping Hands

Discover how communities pulled together to support each other in the Miners’ Strike. Enjoy sunshine at the beach, explore the great outdoors, and much more in a fun-filled programme of events throughout the summer holidays.

From Saturday 20 July – Sunday 1 September, there will be a £5 charge per car (payable via cash or card) for our Summer offer which includes The Beach, car parking and unlimited rides on our much-loved Paddy Train (usually £2.50 per person). Blue Badge holders can park for free, but if they would like to ride our Paddy Train, the £5 per car charge will be payable.

If due to adverse weather conditions the train is unable to run, then there will be no charge. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Seaside Striking Stories
Daily, 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm & 2.30pm
Free, drop-in at The Beach, Hope Pit

Come and join us for a day out at the seaside. Play games and find out how the community entertained children during difficult times.

Makers’ Shed
Daily, 11.30am-3.30pm
Free, drop-in at Pony Discovery Centre

Get creative with different crafts each week inspired by how the community supported miners in the strike.

Yorkshire Day

Come celebrate Yorkshire Day in t’proper Yorkshire way! With activities on site all day, including a Whippet Walk led by Yorkshire Pedigree Whippet Racing Club – all dogs welcome!
