Come along to one of our Home Educator workshops, experiencing hands-on activities covering topics including History, Science and Art!
History focus - Discover what a pit village was like, meeting Aunty Brenda, finding out what her life was like through stories and object handling. You can even get creative by taking part in rag rugging and other activities.
|10th January & 20th March||Science focus - Find out how coal was formed, make a fossill and discover the machinery that was used to get coal from underground to the surface. Get involved with the science behind mining by having a go at experiments.|
Arts focus - Unleash your creative side and be inspired by the safety posters in the Museum's collection. Use relief painting techniques to create a poster that highlights the dangers of mining.
Arts focus - Enjoy an exclusive visit to our special art exhibition and be inspired to create a piece of art that reflects the Museum and the contents of the exhibition.
Each workshop has capacity for 20 children (ideal for ages 6-11 years) and accompanying adults. Due to the popularity of previous events, ensure that you book your place on one of our workshops by calling us on 01924 848806.
To make a full day of your visit, why not go underground after your workshop for £2 per person, explore the galleries and nature trail and pay a visit to the ponies!
