Half Term : Cultural Olympiad

Half Term : Cultural Olympiad @ Pit!

At the National Coal Mining Museum, we've got great ideas for all the family this October Half Term! Why not make a day of it and visit us for one of our unique events and join in an activity.

The Cultural Olympiad is coming October 21st - October 29th

Celebrate the role of the National Coal Board (NCB) and the arts and culture of the mining community.

Some of the ways the NCB improved welfare for mining communities
> higher education opportunities
> creative / leisure / cultural activities at miners' institutes
> 'Coal' magazine celebrated all aspects of mining and commissioned artists to record different areas of mining life. 'Coal' is available for visitors to browse in the Museum Library and on the Museum website.
