Digging Deep Talk: Norma Gregory

21st September

Norma Gregory (www.normagregory.com), a historian and curator of miners of African Caribbean heritage across the UK, will discuss how she was drawn to the subject of mining heritage and why it personally resonates with her, as well as sharing how she galvanised support from individuals, organisations, funders and the media to source and curate these fascinating stories, and the challenges they overcame, such as migration, finding work, training, surviving accidents and injuries, the miners strikes and life after mining.

Norma also will share some of the ways in which the public have embraced the subject and how the heritage of mining is being transferred through media and the creative arts for adapting to new communities unfamiliar with mining history, young people, senior citizens and diverse groups.
