As of 5pm on Tuesday 17 March the National Coal Mining Museum will be closed following Government guidance over Coronavirus. As a public space, we will remain closed for a period of time until the advice changes. This means that the museum, nature trail, playground and all public and private events are cancelled in the short term.
We apologise for the inconvenience but the wellbeing of our visitors, staff and volunteers is our priority.
Many of the museums that have been forced to close and cancel events are charities and for those who have pre-booked with us, while you are entitled to a refund for cancelling; those who can afford to do so are encouraged to donate it instead, to help support us to tell the story of mining. If you would like to make a direct donation please do so here https://www.ncm.org.uk/donate
Over the coming weeks the National Coal Mining Museum will continue to provide updates as the situation changes, sharing government and NHS advice.
We are looking forward to opening again in the near future, with a new exhibition and a brand new gallery.
