Our Sally Fletcher workshop is available to book but if you have another idea or theme you would like to explore, we are always happy to discuss your needs.

Essential Information

  • Half-day outreach sessions cost £60 or book a full day for £100
  • We will travel to schools within a 45-mile radius of the Museum
  • We can tailor sessions to meet the needs of your group, depending on age, ability and group size

Sally Fletcher and the 1842 Royal Commission

  • Subject focus: KS3 History (Industrial Revolution, Historical Enquiry)
  • Available: Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • Cost: £60 (or book a full day for £100) 
  • Duration: Half-day

Discover what life was like for Sally, a Victorian miner. Find out how her life changed when the 1842 Mines Act was passed, prohibiting women and children from working underground. This interactive workshop includes role-play and a historical investigation using primary evidence.
