Celebrate in style within the unique surroundings of The National Coal Mining Museum.
SAY “I DO” – 140 METRES BELOW!!
We have now been granted a license to hold Civil Wedding Ceremonies at the Museum. Not only can you tie the knot in the newly decorated Caphouse Suite, but for those looking for something totally unique, there is also the opportunity to get married 140 metres below the surface in the Caphouse Colliery underground room!
A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE
Start your special day with reception drinks outside at Hope Pit. The countryside landscape and historical mining buildings create a truly unique backdrop for your wedding photographs. Our ponies Eric and Ernie or Finn our splendid Clydesdale horse can come out to say hello and be part of the celebrations.
After you have had your fill of fizz, your guests are invited to board the quirky mining train and our friendly train driver will transport all your guests to continue the celebrations in the Caphouse Suite.
The Caphouse Suite can accommodate up to 150 of your family and friends. We are able to offer flexible and competitive packages inclusive of venue hire.
We offer bespoke packages for couples wanting to stage their dream weddings, from seaside themes with deck chairs, serving cockles and mussels, to replicating the Gatsby era, with the flamboyance of table centre pieces featuring real ostrich feathers and serving oysters at the wedding breakfast.
