Miranda Richardson of the Yorkshire Rugmakers with the finished rag rug.
The Yorkshire Rugmakers group which meet at the Museum have created a new rag rug design which is proudly on display in the exhibition space along with a By the People, For the People sampler.
The rag rug conveys a view of a Vesting Day ceremony in the pit yard and was made using traditional techniques. It has been designed and produced collaboratively by members of The Yorkshire Rugmakers specially for the exhibition. The group started work on the rug in January 2017 and it's been a real team effort.
We are delighted to be working with this community group and we thank them for all their hard work.
