We are delighted to announce that we have been short listed to the final six in the Telegraph Kids in Museums Family Friendly Museum Awards 2015!
Sponsored by The Telegraph, the award recognises the incredible work that has been put into the Museum over the past year. This year the competition has been particularly tough with a staggering 800 nominees.
We have been shortlisted from a record 800 to six in great company alongside; The Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery, The Diving Museum, The Geffrye Museum of the Home, The Winding House and Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery.
We worked hard on our unique museum nomination earlier this year, you can view the behind the scenes video on YouTube, and received further support from visitors submitting their own nominations, alongside staff and volunteers.
We really strive hard to ensure we have something to offer families of all ages, abilities and from all backgrounds and it's great to know you appreciate all that we offer.
We have a wealth of experiences to offer families, whether that be parents and their children or carers, guardians, grandparents, aunties, uncles or friends!
Boasting a 45 acre accessible site, brand new Asparagus Green Catering café, 140m underground tour, nature trail, library, under 5s play area, play ground and endless galleries to explore – we offer a great day out!
Our Wacky Wednesdays sessions have proven very popular with our under 5s visitors and their care takers. It is our FREE crafting, singing, story telling and exploring session that takes place every Wednesday during term time from 10:15 and all are welcome, no need to book, just turn up!
We are also offering extra activities such as crafting and trails during the summer holidays (20th August - 4th September), join us education team for crafts from 1pm-4pm, meet our living history characters, get story writing as a family with our professional story teller, explore our brand new The Path of the Ponies exhibition and much more!
Once again a big THANK YOU to all of our visitors, all who nominated us and of course staff and volunteers, we're delighted to have been nominated let alone reach the final six! We'll find out the winner in September and will be sure to keep you updated!
