This month in 2015

This time last year the volunteer team had a fact finding day out at Ripon Museums Trust. Our team visited the three Museums - the Workhouse, the Prison & Police Museum and the Courthouse Museum and talked to the volunteers about their roles and how they helped to enhance the visitor experience.

Our volunteer coordinator Sallyann said: "It was a good opportunity for our volunteers to get together. Ripon was a lovely place to visit and we have brought back lots of ideas to try out at the National Coal Mining Museum".

This month in 2016

This year the volunteers are far too busy to be able to spare the time to visit other sites! That will have to wait until the spring. This month, the volunteers have the opportunity to contribute to the work involved in preparing the Museum’s latest heritage lottery bid. The development of the volunteer programme is a key aspect of this bid and during this month’s volunteer quarterly meeting, one of the Museum’s appointed consultants will run a workshop to generate and gather volunteer thoughts, opinions and ideas.

Flushed with success after sparking the colliery ambulance into life to enable it to move around site The Industrial volunteers are now turning their attention to bringing life back to other vehicles on site.

The Visitor Experience Volunteers are preparing to assist with this month’s special animation workshops for Secondary schools. After enjoying a workshop with the professional artist in September they are expected to be truly hands-on helpers when she delivers the school sessions. A busy month culminating in supporting all our great activities over half term at the end of the month. Phew! See our what's on page to see what's going on.
