Mark's Volunteer Story...

Posted on by Anita O'Donovan

What’s your name? Mark Hammill

What do you do at the museum? Library Researcher

Tell us a bit more about what that involves? Collating and filing boxes of historical newspaper articles etc.

How long have you volunteered at the Museum for? 3 months

What made you want to volunteer? I was looking for volunteer work on the website and saw work at the Museum which is close to me and seemed interesting.

Tell us about your life before volunteering at the Museum? Before the museum I worked as an IT Engineer.

What do you enjoy most about your role? I enjoy reading of sometimes quirky articles from newspapers and other publications. The staff and volunteers seem nice and happy – I feel at home here.

Can you tell us an interesting fact or something surprising that you have discovered or learnt, whilst volunteering at the Museum? I did not know of the number of coal mines that had existed in the past, such a waste!
