Magnificent Miners' Gala 2015!
Posted on by Anita O'Donovan
We had a fantastic day on Sunday (28th June) for our Miners' Gala but we couldn’t have done it without the support of our many visitors!
View more photos of the day on our Facebook page.
Yes the weather may not have been perfect, but the crowds kept on flowing and supporting us, raising funds to help us in our ongoing aim at the Museum to keep coal mining alive.
The traditional family FUN-draising day did a fantastic job at raising awareness of the Museum and we're so happy everyone seemed to enjoy it on the day.
Our pit ponies had some brand new shoes fitted by the farrier and Health and Safety Manager Gerry had fun in the stocks being pelted with sopping wet sponges!
Winners of the plate competition, congratulations! Sophie Hazelgrave, Isla Milner and Lena Young, please pick up your prizes from reception! All other entrants, if you'd like to pick up your plate please do so before the end of July. And congratulations to our craft competition winners, details can be dowloaded below.
All in all we had a great day and could not have done it with out our suppliers, performers and stall holders, not to mention our visitors!
It's days like our traditional Miners' Gala that allow us to create new memories and keep the mining industry alive, by ensuring a thriving Museum to visit, and as a charity it's YOUR donations that matter - THANK YOU!
But the fun doesn’t end there! We're open daily from 10am - 5pm with our gallery displays constantly being updated and with our pit ponies, nature trail and underground, there's always something new to look forward to.
Find out more about what's coming up at the Museum on our What's On page and as we pack away this years' gala, we look forward to next year's event - watch this space!
