February Miner of the Month : BJ
This month we've been chatting to miner guide Brian Jaques nicknamed BJ.
BJ started mining in 1970 at Walton followed by Park Mill and Wistow where he worked until 2005.
"I left the mining industry and instead spent 3 years caring for people with learning difficulties"
Brian recalls some of his memories..
"It's been a dangerous and exciting job at times, but I will always remember working with good mates"
So how did he come to work at the Museum?
"I applied for a job in 2008 after I found out about an opportunity from a miner I worked with at Wistow"
And what does Brian think is the best part of his new job?
"Grafting all the time, of course!"
