Special Exhibitions
The Museum holds three special temporary exhibitions a year in a dedicated special-exhibition area. One exhibition is held through winter and spring, one over the summer holidays and one in the autumn. These exhibitions reflect the diversity of the Museum's collections, with one usually being art or photograph based.
Many of the exhibitions have accompanying lecture programmes and family activities. For more information on the activities linked to the current exhibition, please see the exhibition web page.
Previous Special Exhibitions
Exhibitions held over the last 24 months have included an exhibition of paintings by the north eastern artist, Tom Lamb, an exhibition of banners in which the Museum hung 24 banners at Hope Store and a photography exhibition which documented pits from their heyday to their closure.
