The Library holds a wealth of information on the history of coal mining in England - not only the geographical and technical aspects of mining coal, but also the social, economic and political aspect of the industry and the communities it touched.

The collection includes current mining journals and journals from the nineteenth century as well as rare books dating from the 1700s.
All visitors to the Museum are welcome to come and have a look at the Library and browse through a selection of books in the study, including children's books on coal mining.
