Special Exhibition Archive: Tom Lamb - My Mining Days 1946-1969

This special exhibition focuses on artwork by north eastern artist, Tom Lamb, who is celebrating his 80th birthday.  Tom began working at Craghead Colliery at age 14 where he began to document his fellow miners and working environment through art.  Celebrate over 20 years of memories in this special exhibition dedicated to his brother, Jacky.

Throughout the duration of the exhibition the Museum will be holding a number of free Saturday afternoon talks all starting at 2.00pm, please contact the Museum if you wish to book for any of these events.

18th October 2008 - 'Meet the Artist Event'

An exciting opportunity to meet Tom Lamb as he takes you on a tour of the exhibition.  Hear his mining memories and the inspiration behind many of his paintings.

15th November 2008 - 'Shafts of Light: Mining Art in the Great Northern Coal Field'
