EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST – DESIGN AND FIT-OUT
The National Coal Mining Museum for England is inviting suitably qualified and experienced Exhibition Contractors to express an interest in being considered for inclusion on its tender list for the fit-out element of a project to extend and revitalise its underground tour. The design work to achieve a Heritage Lottery Fund second stage pass has been completed and approved. The project is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, the National Coal Mining Museum for England, DCMS, DBERR and other contributors.
The National Coal Mining Museum for England, located in West Yorkshire, provides a unique opportunity for visitors to travel 140 metres underground down one of Britain's oldest working coal mines. The successful applicant will be required to provide the fit-out for the roadways of the new underground tour using the approved designs, which will include further work on detailed design for some elements, and for the refurbishment of the existing 600-metre underground tour, including display and interpretation of the furnace shaft.
A Pre Qualification Questionnaire may be obtained by registering your expression of interest by email to development.officer@ncm.org.uk . Completed PQQ’s must be returned no later than 31st August 2010. A shortlist of contractors will be invited to tender during September 2010.
For an informal discussion about the project, or for additional information, please contact Mrs Rosemary Preece, Curatorial Director, on 01924 848806.
